Should I use 2 or 3 bundles for sew-in? ›

Three bundles for a full sew-in typically the magic number. With three bundles anywhere from 14″ — 20″ your weave will be full, flowy, and glamorous. Anything less, 2 bundles would be perfect. If your sew-in is starting with lengths over 22″ you might want to consider four bundles to five bundles.

Most people use 2–4 bundles of hair. It depends on the size of your head and also the length of extension hair.

To achieve a full look, you will need from 2-3 bundles with a lace frontal and from 3-4 bundles with a lace closure. Whatever bundle hairstyles you decide to on, keep in mind that bundles are great investments, as they typically last for much longer and allow you to experiment with a variety of desired hairstyles.

This is suggestion is mainly for when you install your weave with a closure. The general rule is that if you have bundles anywhere from 8 inches to about 14 inches, you could ideally use two bundles. If you are going to get bundles longer than 14 inches, like 16” to 20”, you might need three bundles.

To achieve any hairdo, you will need at least two bundles of closure. You should keep in mind that when the hair is longer, the weft will be shorter. The frontals will cover most of your head. Accordingly, depending on the length and style, you need 2 to 3 hair bundles.

A healthy sew in cycle is 6-8 weeks depending on growth and home care. We recommend you come in for a maintenance appointment every two weeks for a shampoo and at 4 weeks for a shampoo and tightening. For a lace closure sew in, I suggest getting the closure repositioned at week 3.

A lace closure is a temple to temple hairpiece, typically you will need 3–5 bundles to achieve a full sew in; A frontal is an ear to ear hairpiece, placed against the edge of the hairline, typically 2–4 bundles you will need for a full sew in with a lace frontal.

13x4 Frontal Lace is a common size and sewn with about 3-4 bundles of hair to form a full wig. If you prefer to pull your hair back, frontal hair ear-to-ear is the best for you.

The hair must be at least 10 inches long to be made into a wig, however you should expect to lose about 2-3” due to the hand tying process. Many custom wig makers can provide supplemental hair if you do fall a little short on the amount needed. Another option is to request hair donations from friends and loved ones.

A full head weave is the amount needed to add both volume and length; usually, this is between 150-200g. The weight and the number of wefts will vary slightly depending on the length of your own hair, how long you want to go, and the style of your haircut.

What hair do I need for a sew in? ›

Although we recommend virgin human hair, you can still use synthetic hair for sew-in weaves. Synthetic hair is much more affordable than human hair and if you don't plan on styling your hair much, synthetic may be a better option.

"To achieve a natural look, you will need 2 bundles of hair extensions for lengths between 12 and 16 inches, depending on the size of your head. For lengths between 18 and 22 inches, you will need 3 or more bundles, again depending on the circumference of your head.

If you are wearing 18″ or shorter, 2-3 bundles will suffice. For 20″ to 24″, 3-4 bundles depending on how full you like your hair. And for 26″ or longer, 4-6 bundles is needed. How long does the installation take?

If you would describe your hair as “average” and neither thick nor thin, the general rule of 8 packs will most likely apply to you in this instance. If you have thick hair, to achieve a full head you may find that you require more than 8 packs, and we would recommend purchase at least an additional 2 just in case.

If you're buying bundles, on average three (3) bundles should do, but you may use 2-4, depending on fullness and length.
