Hi, has anybody had issues with their Mercedes Me app not connecting?
Mine has been working fine until recently. Sometimes when I park up and then check the app, the data hasn't updated and the app says "Not connected". It only seems to do this when my phone is using 4G, when I get home and my phone connects to my home wi-fi, the app works perfectly as it should.
Nothing has changed with my phone or car but it's started doing this quite often over the past couple of weeks.
Cheers.

I've had the same problem for a couple of weeks. Are you using an iphone? It seems to have started after the latest IOS update to 16.3.1

Yes, I'm on an iPhone with 16.3.1. I did wonder whether it was related to the latest iOS update.

I also have iOS 16.3.1, but have had no issues as of yet.

for me it works fine when I'm on wifi but not on mobile data. If I've not used the app for day or so, and then open it whilst on mobile data, the last updated date and time won't refresh. It could depend on mobile network. I'm on O2 4g (don't have a 5g iphone).

Yes Rob, exactly the same for me, fine on wifi but not o2 4G.

Recently started getting "vehicle unlocked" messages, when either I can actually see it's locked or even more weird, while I am actually driving!
I've raised an issue with Mercedes Me support and over the last 2 weeks, and provided time/date stamped screen shots etc but they don't seem to be able to address the problem. They've tried to say its just random occurrences, (it's not), that their technical team have fixed the issue (no they haven't) and today, that they've updated the App to version 1.30 (my App is already that version)!!
Never has such issues since buying car new in 2019 but I doubt I will bother renewing the MercMe subscription when its 4 years old in May, at this rate.
Anyone else having the same or similar issues?

I've not had the "vehicle unlocked" issue. I have updated the app to version 1.30 but it still won't ever connect when the phone is on 4G, only on wi-fi.
I've raised it as an issue via the app but I'm sure nothing will be done.
Does look like it's an issue with iOS 16.3.1 and o2, tempted to move to EE but that's a bit drastic action, especially if I then still have the same problem lol.

Have had exactly the same issue recently with MMe Connect only connecting over wifi and not 4G
Tried reinstalling the app and other usual tricks but no effect.
I'm on v 1.30.1 of the app and ios 16.3.1 on O2
Apart from anything else the Vehicle Search feature only updates when connected to the house wifi while parked in the drive where I can see it through the window - bit of a nonsense.

Yes, it is really frustrating, makes the app useless when out and about using 4G.
I'm on app version 1.30.1 and just updated to iOS 16.4, still doesn't work.

Just for info and may not be the cause of your issues, but Mercedes starting disconnecting cars with the older 3G communication modules in December. My 2016 CLS lost all the remote locking, location and status updates last month. The status only updates in the Mercedes me app when the car is at home - probably because it picks up the Wi-Fi again.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully that's not the case for me, as my car is a new 2022 model ?

This does not make sense to me. First, are you sure Mercedes Me works via WIFI at the car? I've never tested this. If it does, then it does not make any sense to actively disable 3G connectivity. If 3G cells are shut down, there is no need to disable 3G from the modem in the car. Many countries also have 2G coverage still quite some time after discontinuing 3G services. The 3G modem works perfectly on 2G networks (for remote control, not necessarily ideal for maps updates or the hotspot service).
Are you sure your loss of features was not because of no 2G/3G coverage instead of the 3G modem being configured off via OTA?

I’m assuming Mercedes Me does work through Wi-Fi that’s why the basic lock status, range, tyre pressures are getting updated on mine.
I lost the ability to remote lock and see the car location when I was away from home so I queried with Mercedes. Their response was that from December they were actively decommissioning older 3G comms modules when user subscriptions were ending. My additional features subscription that included remote locking and tracking ended in March. You cannot now renew this on cars using the older 3G modules. Looks like worldwide they are doing the same.

Rather cynically I wondered if it was a ploy by MB to drive more users to purchase a data package from Vodaphone (whose SIM is in the MBUX system).
Is there a data limit attached to use of the MeConnect features?
On the MME Store they do say that a subscription to a data package is required to use some features - without specifying which ones. Clearly, Internet in the Car does (which I don't have) but not sure about others. MBUX says I'm connected to 4G LTE but no communication is taking place.

Now makes a bit of sense if it happens when subscriptions have expired. MB would otherwise need to continue paying for the network access. If they assume the customer would not return, then better to shut down the device.
Still odd if it keeps working over wifi, perhaps those free features only? This too consumes their resources, server resources but not a big deal.

There is no data limit. The data package is only for high volume services (hotspot in the car, browsing from MBUX...).
Anyway, your case is different from the 3G as you have a 4G modem. But are you saying the car needs home wifi, not the iPhone to make Mercedes Me app connect to the car? Has it been long like this, I understand it has worked before?
