Growing up I was only allowed to wear pink or very light nail polish. Black nail polish was definitely a ‘NO.’
When Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor was preparing for her Senate confirmation hearing, Obama staffers advised her against wearing colored nail polish fearing it would be a distraction. She ignored them and painted her nails bright red.
I think our nail polish ‘rules’ for working women are archaic and unnecessary. Contrary to popular thinking, black nail polish is actually a wonderful NEUTRAL and professional. It’s not just for emo teens or fashion girls in New York. They don’t get to have all the fun!

Face it: most of us are unimaginative and wear black because it is easy. Your nails might as well match your outfit. With all black looks [like above] black nails become subtle and fade into the background.
