Finn Agrees to Go to Rehab — and Sonny and Ava Prepare for a Custody Battle Over Avery (2024)

Trina arrives at Sonny’s place to grab Ava’s day planner that she left behind. Sonny says she can check her room, as he hasn’t been in there. Sonny assumes Ava told her that he threw her out, which he did. Trina tries to give Sonny Ava’s suite number, but he doesn’t want it. Sonny says Ava will be hearing from his lawyer soon about whether a hotel is the right place for their daughter to live, even if part-time. Trina then heads out.

Trina stops by Ava’s room at the Metro Court. Ava asks how Sonny was. Trina says he was quiet, and she just wanted to get out of there. She also relays Sonny’s message that she’ll be hearing from his attorney about whether a hotel is an appropriate place to raise Avery, even part-time. Ava fumes, “That son of a bitch, he’s planning to take away my daughter!”

Ava says she’s only here because Sonny kicked her out before she could find a new place. She says Sonny is taking her daughter out of revenge for her costing a friend of his her law license. Ava plans to fight back and says Sonny isn’t the only one who knows about threats. Trina asks if she should open up the gallery for her. Ava says no, it’s her day off, and the gallery will survive being closed for a day. She tells Trina to go have fun.

Trina takes off, and Ava calls Scott. He arrives, and she tells him that Sonny may try to go for custody of Avery and that she can’t lose another daughter. She fears Sonny will lie on the stand about her or pay someone off to get his way. Scott says both she and Sonny have a history with the law, and the courts will be looking at who is worse. He also says these cases usually end up a disaster for all involved. Ava will take her chances and asks Scott to be her lawyer. He says he’s in.

Gio shows up at Joss and Trina’s new place and finds Joss cleaning. She thought he was Trina at first, as she had to run an errand for Ava. Gio can tell by the way he says Ava’s name that she doesn’t like her. She says she doesn’t, and the only redeeming qualities she has is Avery, and that she hired him to play at the gallery. Joss asks how much Ava is paying him, and he says one hundred bucks. She calls Ava a cheapskate.

Trina shows up, and Joss asks if she’s okay, seeing she looks troubled. Trina says she just had a talk with Ava, and she’s full of rage as Sonny threw her out, and she’s directing her anger at him. Gio asks if Ava could be a threat to Sonny. Joss doesn’t think so, but Trina says Ava seemed capable of anything.

Joss says she knows Gio loves Sonny, and once, she did, too. He asks what happened. She explains that her mom used to be married to Sonny, and their last breakup was really bad. She and Sonny don’t agree on much of anything, but she doesn’t want anything to happen to him. Gio asks Trina again if Ava could be a threat. Trina doesn’t know, but she won’t rule anything out.

Kristina arrives at her mother’s and finds her out cold on the couch with her laptop. Kristina says she knocked and asks what she’s working on. Alexis shuts her laptop and says, “Nothing.” Kristina responds, “That’s not suspicious.”

Kristina asks her mom to look over a petition she’s drawn up. It states that if Molly and TJ split up, then the baby would stay with them. Alexis asks who is “them.” Kristina says with them, the Davis family. Kristina asks her mom to look it over, but Alexis won’t get in the middle of this. Kristina says TJ and Molly are fighting, and she has to be prepared if they break up. Alexis wonders if, deep down, she wants them to break up. Kristina insists she doesn’t.

Sonny comes knocking at the door, and Alexis asks what they owe this visit to. Sonny says he knows Ava cost her her license, and he kicked her out. He should have listened to Kristina about Ava from the beginning. Sonny knows they haven’t always seen eye to eye, but tells Alexis when it comes to Ava, they are on the same side.

Alexis says she can’t wait any longer. She was going to wait until the other girls got here, but she’s been reinstated and is joining Diane’s law firm. Sonny says that’s good, as he’s about to have a legal battle on his hands. Alexis lets him know Diane will remain his attorney.

Finn finds Chase sitting at their dad’s bench in the park. Chase offers to leave, but Finn says it’s his bench too. Chase is quiet, and Finn can’t believe he’s being so silent. Chase doesn’t know what to say. Finn says he’s texted and left messages asking how Violet is, and he can’t be bothered to call him back.

Finn sits down with his brother on their father’s bench and asks how Violet is. Chase says she is confused and very worried about him. He says she was scared when she found him, and they reassured her he was okay, but she’s more worried that he’ll think she abandoned him or that she doesn’t love him anymore. Finn says that will never happen. Chase tells Finn that he’s Violet’s hero, and both she and he rely on him for aid and guidance. Chase says he wasn’t supposed to end up here as he was just driving around, but they both are here, so that has to mean something.

Chase assumes he got the order from Diane, and he says it wasn’t easy to do that to him. Finn knows, and he’s been so angry at him, Liz, and the hospital, but the person he’s most angry with is himself. He never thought he’d be back to where he is, numbing his pain. Chase is glad he’s alive still, but Finn doesn’t think he deserves to be. Finn says his choices caused Violet pain, and that makes him want to die. He feels broken.

Chase wants to help him, but says Finn has to take the first step. Finn calls Sky Meadow Lodge, where Tracy has a room held for him. He tells them he’ll be checking in tonight. Finn asks Chase to give him a ride, and Chase says he’ll be there to give him a ride when he gets out in ninety days as well. Finn asks for one other thing: to say goodbye to Violet.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Brook Lynn tells Tracy that Violet is playing with Leo, who seems to know all the right things to say to her right now. She admits she is scared; what does she do when Violet asks to call her dad or to go home? She feels like Violet is their adorable little prisoner. Tracy tells Brook Lynn that she and Chase may need to consider this could be a more permanent situation.

Tracy says she talked with Olivia and Monica, and she and Chase can’t move back to Finn’s place because it will be too traumatizing for Violet. She also notes Chase’s place as it’s too small. Brook Lynn says they can find a bigger place, but Tracy says Violet needs stability and consistency right now, so they are offering Violet a home here, provided she and Chase come with her.

Tracy tells Brook Lynn this place is crawling with maternal energy, plenty of father figures, and tons of kids. Brook Lynn says that’s why she sold her on them moving in temporarily. Tracy says she’s offering them a permanent situation. She advises Brook Lynn to consider their custody of Violet may become more permanent.

Tracy asks how she’s doing. Brook Lynn is hoping Finn will reach out for help and is grateful they have her help and support. Tracy knows taking on a kid early in her marriage is a lot. Brook Lynn notes she had practice with Bailey Lou. Tracy is proud of her, especially since she’s supposed to be on her honeymoon. Brook Lynn says Florence can wait, and they are supposed to be here now. Tracy says she’s a better woman than her. Brook Lynn thanks her for saying all the right things, and they hug.

Chase comes home and tells Tracy and Brook Lynn he’s taking Finn to rehab tonight, but he wants to see Violet before he goes. Chase says he will be there and shut it down if Finn goes off the rails. Tracy says this is his call, and Brook Lynn will support whatever he wants. Tracy asks when this will happen. Chase says here, now, he’s outside.

Finn comes in, and Tracy hugs him. Finn thanks them for doing this. Brook Lynn tells Finn that Violet is ready. Tracy asks Finn if he’s ready?

In the stables, Sasha tells Cody that she’s worried about Violet, as she didn’t eat much breakfast, and she looked like she hadn’t been sleeping. Cody says Violet just lost her grandfather, and he asks why she’s here. Sasha says it has something to do with Finn, as she heard Brook Lynn and Tracy talking about all of them moving in permanently.

They talk about growing up without a father, which both of them have experienced. Suddenly, Mac shows up. He wanted to drop by and tell Cody how much he appreciates his helping out with Maxie and the kids, and James can’t stop talking about him coming to see him ride. Mac also says he’s sorry for pegging him as a conman who couldn’t be trusted, and he is Superman to his family, so he hopes he accepts his apology.

Cody says there is nothing to forgive, and he loves his family. Mac says he fits right in, considering he and Sasha worked with Maxie at Deception and probably got to know one another well. He also thinks it’s nice that he and Sasha are reunited here at the Quartermaines. Cody and Sasha insist they are just co-workers. Mac says, “Sure.” He also says he’ll be at James’ next riding lesson.

Mac leaves, and Sasha asks what is wrong with Cody! She says he had the perfect opportunity to come clean with Mac. Cody felt the timing wasn’t right, and he could lose everything if it isn’t the right time. She just wants him to be happy. He says he is, and this is a new territory for him. It’s usually been him and him only, and he was fine with that until he found Mac. She reminds him they are trying to find a better way. He admits he almost told him. She hopes he will next time.

On the next General Hospital: Dante shares his concerns with Sam, and Chase supports Finn in his time of need.
