Frozen brussel sprouts

Oil- I like to use avocado oil, since it has a high heat tolerance. But use whatever you have on hand. Extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil also work well.

Seasonings- I use a mix of garlic powder, onion powder, salt and black pepper. Sometimes I use Montreal steak seasoning to make it easier. It's not just for steaks! It tastes amazing on any roasted vegetable.

Balsamic vinegar- Vinegar adds a nice sweet and tangy balance to the earthiness of the air fryer brussels sprouts.

👩‍🍳 Recipe tips

Don't thaw- no need to thaw the brussels sprouts before air frying. It will just make them soggy. Air fry them from frozen.

Air fry in a single layer & don't overcrowd- to make sure the hot air evenly cooks the brussels sprouts and the all cook evenly, cook them in a single layer. You may have to cook in batches.

Shake the basket- Shake the air fryer basket halfway through the cooking time for best results. This will prevent them from burning, and will make them cook evenly.

Cook time may vary, depending on your air fryer model, so keep a close eye on them until the sprouts become crispy and golden brown.

🍃 Toppings and Variations

These crispy brussels sprouts come out amazingly delicious, but if you'd like to spruce them up even more, here are some toppings and variations:

Tahini dressing - lightly drizzle with an easy tahini dressing made with 2 tablespoons of runny tahini, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, one tablespoon maple syrup and 1 tablespoon lemon juice or rice vinegar. Add water to thin it out and stir well.

Add Sweetness - to add a touch of sweetness, add a tablespoon of maple syrup, when you're seasoning the sprouts before cooking.

Top with cheese - Add some grated vegan parmesan cheese on top right after air frying, so it melts slightly. I love Violife's brand.

Balsamic glaze - drizzle a little balsamic glaze on top after roasting.

Everything but the bagel seasoning - sprinkle this on after air frying for a flavor boost.

Why did my brussels sprouts burn in the air fryer?

To ensure crispy roasted Brussels sprouts, pat them dry before roasting to eliminate excess moisture. Spread them out in a single layer, coat them well in oil, and roast at a high temperature (around 400°F or 200°C). Watch the baking time to avoid overcooking, aiming for a golden brown finish.
