I got banned from bowsite and the only I have posted lately was about this and the other new forum.I have sent several emails to their help desk with no response.I guess they can do what they want but you would think they might contact someone to make sure they didn't make a mistake.

Many forums don't put up with linking or even naming other forums. Maybe that is what happened there?

It just stinks that in the USA you can get banned for suggesting a more specialized website for a certain subject. The mods at bowsite need to man up and at least let a guy know what they think he did wrong.

But there is little or no discussion of bow hunting ...

Go on the Budweiser brewery tour with a Miller Lite T-shirt on and see what happens ... doubt you'll get an explanation there either.

InBev, a Belgian company actually now owns both Budweiser and Miller Lite (SAB) but I know what you're getting at. Coors Light is still 50% American owned tho!

I knew the merger was in process but had not heard if the board approved the offer or if our DOJ approved the merger ...

Which I have always found very funny because most guys on here would rather be in the woods with a stick and string than a boomstick? So I don't get it, maybe the whole "bow hunting conversation" is more akin to just the general hunting banter that we have here than one gives credit for? I mean honestly, other than the holier than thou "archery snobs" over there, what do they really discuss that we don't touch on here? Food plots? Habitat manipulation? Stands? Nope, we got all that. Scents? Nope, got that too? Equipment? Most guys have some and are willing to discuss if asked. Maybe not ad nauseam like they do over there, but that's ok too. You can only listen to guys crow that their Hoyt is better than Fred's Bear for so long before it makes you throw up in your mouth a little anyway? So I'm not sure what someone would really be missing here vs there?

Sure: http://www.habitat-talk.com/index.php?threads/bow-question.5992/
But when it comes to structuring a forum it is important not to get too much dilution. I've noticed that some new forums create a structure with individual forums for a very broad variety of topics in an attempt to attract more members. What tends to happen is that while the forum initially gets more members, those members are diluted across more forums. The activity on any individual forum or subject is decreases and the forum loses critical mass and eventually dwindles.

One of the many reasons I chose this forum is because of the focus. I think that is an asset. The smart way to broaden a forum is to do it slowly based on use. In other words, when the admin sees lots of threads on the general discussion forum focusing around a particular topic, say bowhunting, then it is time to open a specific thread.

A well established forum doesn't have that risk but doesn't benefit much from too much breadth. For example, a few users asked for a specific habitat-food plot forum on the Chasingame forum. It is a very well established forum focused primarily on trail cameras. The admin accommodated and in 4 years there have been 102 threads on it. Similarly, while use much more than this example, QDMA had a trail camera forum, which had very small traffic compared to Chasingame.

Folks will always go to a site where the forum is focuses in their primary interest area for a particular topic. Bowsite and Archery-talk or similar forums will always attract the majority of bowhunting questions.

That doesn't mean forum users here should hesitate to ask archery questions here, as folks say, there are plenty of experienced folks willing to help. I just means that the forum is better off for now while it is young with those occurring in general discussion in my opinion.

Thanks,

Jack

If I only did it once, that would suck. Over and over again in every thread, grinding that axe, just kind of spamming the site....that is a bit different.

I sure doesn't sound like that ^^^ is the case in buckdeer1's situation? Sounded like one post to point out some places to get good info on habitat and he was gone without explanation. BS honestly..........

There is still a thread on bowsite mentioning the QDMA site. There was a lot of discussion there about the QDMA site going away. Pat, the bowsite owner, is a QDMA member. Problem is, he has his Deerbuilder site which would be in direct competition with this site. This one is WAY better than his site as was QDMA. I might be wrong but I believe Pat's direct email is Pat <at> bowsite <dot> com.

There are way too many attitudes on that site, especially the WI board. It is all bickering and no substance.
