Well this could be very interesting, the NFL entering online gaming powered by Aristocrat with a sweepstakes model which is on the uptick and likely to convert to iGaming. With brand recognition already well established and deep pockets, the NFL will undoubtedly have high ad campaign engagement with customer conversion into real money. How will they stack up against Draftings and FanDuel who together own almost 80% of the market?Source: https://lnkd.in/gryjFdM3

The Art of Ghosting - Corporate Ghosting is an awful practice. Too busy, don't have the heart to share bad news, or perhaps you're simply a sharp business person practicing ghosting at the highest level? As an executive I receive numerous cold calls/emails. If I know you, spoken or done business in the past, you WILL receive a response. It's just the professional to do. If we haven't had prior dialogue it's unlikely I'll respond unless the timing is right for your services.Recently I've worked with two recruiters who have gone incognito. In one case awesome feedback by their client to me directly, they even reached out to a mutual professional for a pre-reference where the feedback was "they had great things to say about you". While a candidate is not the client be professional and respond to your candidates. I use a select few recruiters I've got to know and trust when I need positions filled, you're not going to be a recruiter I'll call upon if you can't or wont respond with feedback from an interview. Good or bad news. Grow up and be an adult!

The streaming world can deliver live streams from 30 seconds to just a few hundred milliseconds (less than half a second). Your industry will dictate the need. If I'm sitting at home watching the game, for example, personally 4s would be awesome but 10s perhaps too much? What about in game betting, what's the sweet spot?#sportsbook #sportsbetting #streamingmedia #streaming #horseracing

Encoding & Ingesting Realtime StreamsIn order to achieve realtime streams, we’re talking about half a second or less glass-to-glass, your workflow needs to employ encoders that can deliver the ingest in it’s native protocol or a fast transcoding step in the workflow.Let’s look atprotocol options for realtime, there’s really only one but I’m going to talk about three. Further, only one of these is suitable for delivery to consumers and that’s WebRTC. WebRTC is used in meeting applications such asZoom, Teams, Google Meets etc. They all use WebRTC in their workflow and widely adopted on almost all devices now days. But meeting applications don’t scale to the masses, generally 10s to 100 or so client connections. Scale with WebRTC requires a persistent socket connection unlike other file based protocols such as DASH & HLS. There are a few vendors today who can scale WebRTC, notably Dolby & Phenix who offer full end to end solutions. You don’t necessarily have to encoder WebRTC to deliver WebRTC, but you do need to transcode it to WebRTC in your workflow, and fast. One method is RTMP, it’s been around for a long time and widely support. Unfortunately, it’s not fast enough for realtime. Why do I even mention this you ask? Simply put, native WebRTC encoders didn’t really exist for a long time and even today that hasn’t changed a whole lot. Phenix built their own and Osprey Talon has produced an encoder solution 1-2 years ago. Both Phenix and Osprey can produce WebRTC with multi-bitrate ladders from the source.SRT has gain a lot of traction in the broadcast world and supported by both Dolby & Phenix via a transcoding workflow. Transcoding might come at additional cost but if SRT is already in your production workflow the small additional cost might outweigh additional resources and operational oversight. Latency, with respect to native WebRTC ingest vs SRT. They are very close, within a frame or two. I have seen SRT quicker if you can lower the RTT latency settings on a good fiber connection.* Looking for some direction in your build out of OTT realtime solution, DM for a consult.TVG Network Betfair USRoberts Communications NetworkFlutter Entertainment PlcSkyRacingAUTabcorpBetMGMCaesars Entertainment, Inc. Low Latency Streaming for Sports BettingFor the better part of 2 decades I have lived in a world of gaming & streaming and over the past several years, with the advent of realtime streaming, I have seen a pivot in industries such as sports to realtime. What is realtime and why sports? The benchmark for realtime is a debatable figure, but let’s call it sub-second “glass-to-glass”. That’s from the camera to your viewing medium such as a TV. However, some streaming providers are less than half a second. Why sports? Imagine talking to your friends, on the phone, watching a game and your friend bursts out with excitement as his team scores a goal and you haven’t seen it yet. Frustrating, but why? First, different providers have different streaming protocols each having differing latency profiles. Secondly, even the same protocols can have time sync differentials. There are also commercial reasons beyond the technical reasons. Who cares? Sports Betting operators and punters care! Why? Say you’re wagering on an in game play on the Super Bow, Bob is at the game while you’re at home watching it with a 50 second delay (that’s the average). Bob essentially has 50 second window of more betting time than you. You placed your bet based on 50 seconds of history, whereas Bob witnessed an event that could alter the outcome which you have yet to see and Bob makes a wager based on this event. Even traditional Over-the-air had 22 seconds delay, 15 seconds over the 7 seconds TV delay. One can only assume for commercial reasons. So what streaming vendors provide sub-second or less with minimal drift for betting purposes? Here are some notible vendors:- Dolby.io - less than 500ms- Phenix Real Time Solutions - less than 500ms- THEOPlayer- greater than or equal 700msBoth Dolby.io and PhenixRTS employ WebRTC protocols and datacenter compute to deliver 100s of Thousands of streams with minimal drift all over the world. THEOlive employ CDNs, generally cheaper, to delivery their content worldwide. Most providers generally have other features/add-ons in there product stack or partner vendors:- Live to VOD support- Ads- Content Protection- DRM- Watermarking & monitoringIn a later topic I’ll dive deeper into Ingest & Protocols:- RTMP- WebRTC- SRT* If you’re in the market to build a streaming platform for your operation DM me for a quick consult to see how I can help.TVG Network Betfair USRoberts Communications NetworkFlutter Entertainment PlcSkyRacingAUTabcorpBetMGMDraftKings Inc.FanaticsPointsBet
