Many of us neglect our toenails during the colder months. After all, they're hiding away in the comfort of cozy Uggs or lug-sole boots. However, as the warm weather approaches—and we unpack those sandals and peep-toe pumps—the idea of a pedicure, DIY or in the salon, becomes much more enticing.
We asked pro nail artists Britney Tokyo and Georgia Rae to give us insights on the trendiest pedicure shades for spring. Read on for seven nail colors to help get you in the spring spirit and add an extra pep to your step.

Pastel Glazed Colors
Essie Nail Art Studio Special Effects Nail Polish in Ethereal Escape ($13)
The glazed donut trend took the beauty world by storm thanks to Hailey Bieber, who embraced subtle hues with iridescent shine. This spring, we'll still be riding that glossy wave. "The spring pedicure trend is pastel glazed colors, especially lavender and yellow," Tokyo says. These shades are perfect for adding a gentle pop of color without overdoing it.
Light Blue Tones
Essie Nail Polish in Find Me An Oasis ($10)
With so many sunny days and blue skies ahead, it only makes sense to incorporate light blues into your spring beauty routine. A pastel baby blue flatters all skin tones and will help you prepare for the warmer days on the horizon.
Sheer Nudes
Kur Nail Veil #4 ($20)
Sheer nude shades are perfect for those who prefer minimal looks. And, thanks to how buildable most of the formulas are, you can switch up your vibe by painting on as many (or few) coats as you'd like—think milky pedi or opaque neutral. "It's an understated way to explore shades you wouldn't normally reach for," Rae says.
Purple Tones
OPI Nail Polish in Polly Want a Lacquer? ($12)
If you're feeling bolder when you get to your pedicure appointment, opt for a sweet lavender hue (like this one) or a deeper purple that exudes royalty. The vibrant pigment is an instant mood booster.
Neon Pastels
Kiara Sky Nail Polish in Peachin' ($10)
Get ready for festival season with electrifying hues that will pair perfectly with an over-the-top outfit—think bright peach or pink. "Neon pastels have been favored around this time every year, especially among young people attending outdoor festivals like Coachella," Tokyo says, who believes fashion trends are driving the popularity of the shades.
Classic Whites
Essie Nail Polish in Blanc ($10)
Listen, we get it—sometimes, being surrounded by so much color during the springtime is more than enough, and you don't feel the need to extend that bright energy to your toenails. Opt for a classic white hue if you're indecisive or want something that will go with all your spring looks.
Copper Metallics
Londontown Nail Polish in Sugarcane ($16)
To add shimmer to your toenails while embracing the warmth, skip the silver and opt for tones like copper and gold instead. This pretty copper shade might frost your toes, but there's nothing cold about it.
"The spring pedicure trend is pastel glazed colors, especially lavender and yellow," Tokyo says. These shades are perfect for adding a gentle pop of color without overdoing it.
Think slim neon French tips on neutral nails and the crisp freshness of the Baby Boomer manicure, which makes its triumphant return in 2024. Press-on nails are also becoming more prevalent—great news for lazy nail-art lovers or last-minute manicures that can be done en route to your destination.
A timeless tone of beige or nude goes well with both formal and casual ensembles. It has a refined and tidy appearance that complements any color scheme. Beige or nude nails look elegant and classic, offering them a flexible option for any setting.
Adding a zest of novelty to traditional French pedicures, the colorful French is slated to be a hot trend in 2024. A playful and vibrant take on the classic French pedicure, this trend replaces the traditional white tip with a burst of color.
Am I chic, or what? Keep in mind: When wearing nonmatching shades, it's best to color-coordinate, says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, vice president and artistic director at OPI. So don't use yellow on your fingernails and green on your toes.
One popular colour trend is electric blue, a striking and eye-catching shade that adds a pop of colour to any manicure. Pair it with a glossy top coat for an extra dose of shine. For those who prefer a softer and more feminine look, pastel shades are a must-try.
Los Angeles-based Celebrity Nail Artist, Queenie Nguyen predicts, “ombré nails with a white chrome topping” to be on trend for 2024. “The chrome finish will add a unique touch to the classic ombré nails,” she adds.
Pastel nails are hot for 2024, but while olive, cornflower blue and peach are big in fashion, in bridal nail trends a soft pink manicure is number one for weddings. One you could DIY, the look can be as opaque or sheer as you desire with a light pink polish.
Avoid Dark Colors: Dark colors, such as deep reds, purples, or blacks, can draw attention to imperfections and make hands appear older. It's best to steer clear of these shades if you want to achieve a more youthful look.
Soft pastel shades like baby pink, lavender, or light blue can evoke a sense of sweetness and femininity. These colors are often associated with a gentle and approachable personality. Many guys find pastel nail polish attractive because it gives a feeling of innocence and charm.
“Darker shades tend to make nail beds look smaller so make sure that you choose dark colors that are good for your skin tone in the summer,” says Choi.
According to Baek, when deciding on nail polish shades, cooler tones like greens and blues tend to look best on the feet, while warmer tones like peach and pink work on hands.
This month is all about embracing the winter season and its sleek elegance. Try a cool-toned gray or silver shade to create a modern andsophisticated manicure. Alternatively, go for a frosty blue or icy mint green hue to capture the crispness of the season.
