My husband and I LOVE Sangria! Thanks for putting together this list! Sometimes my husband and I just wing it and put what we have in a pitcher and hope for the best. Though it usually turns out, this certainly helps take the guess work out!

FAQs

Is it better to make sangria the night before? ›

Don't skimp on the chilling time.

By chilling the sangria, you give the fresh fruits a chance to infuse the wine with sweet, fresh flavor. If you cut this time short, your sangria won't taste as fruity or as balanced. I let mine chill for at least 8 hours before serving, or overnight for the best flavor.

How do you drink Don Simon sangria? ›

Don Simon Sangria, best served chilled with or without ice, is all about easy, breezy fun. It's also low alcohol at only 7% so self-restraint is only required in moderation. This is a clarification and stabilization of red wine. Addition of aromas, water, citric acid and sugar.

What is the best wine for sangria? ›

The best wine for sangria is Garnacha (also called Grenache) or Pinot Noir. Garnacha comes from Spain, so it's my top pick for authentic Spanish sangria! Choose an inexpensive wine (under $20) that you would enjoy on its own. Why Garnacha and Pinot Noir?

Can you leave fruit in sangria overnight? ›

Mix red wine, brandy, triple sec, lemonade concentrate, orange juice, lemon juice, and sugar together in a bowl. Add orange, lemon and lime slices, and maraschino cherries. Serve immediately over ice, or refrigerate 8 hours to overnight for best flavor. For a fizzy sangria, add club soda just before serving.

Why is sangria so strong? ›

It's often given a boost with brandy or a fruity liqueur like the orange-flavored Triple Sec or the raspberry-flavored Chambord. If it's alcoholic and has a strong, fruity flavor, you can bet someone has added it to Sangria at some point.

Should you eat the fruit in sangria? ›

Some people consider it to be unacceptable to eat the fruit in Sangria. In contrast, others view it as an essential part of the drink. Whether you are one of those who choose to nibble on some fruit or not, there is no doubt that the sliced fruit served with the Sangria soaks up the flavors and is delicious to eat!

Does fruit soak up alcohol in sangria? ›

Soaking the fruit in the brandy, sugar, and orange juice before adding in the wine and effervescence helps extract the fruit's natural juices and allows it to absorb some of the alcohol.

Is sangria better chilled? ›

Sangria is best served chilled, so store it in the refrigerator in the serving container while the ingredients are soaking. Alternatively, you can serve it on the rocks by filling glasses with ice before pouring in the sangria.

Should red sangria be cold or room temp? ›

Traditionally, you serve red sangria at room temperature, just like you serve red wine. I personally think, as this is such a great summer recipe, that it is delicious served cold.

How do you keep sangria cold at a party? ›

When it's time to serve, pop a few slices of the frozen fruits into each glass, pour your sangria over it, and savor each sip. The frozen fruit will keep your drink icy cold, won't dilute your drink, and you'll have some bonus wine-soaked fruits to enjoy after you've drained your glass!

Why is my sangria cloudy? ›

Adding the wrong fruits

Make sure not to use fleshy fruits like custard apple or banana in your sangria, as these will make your sangria cloudy. Instead, focus on citric fruits like strawberries, cherries, apples and pears that will add zing and texture to your sangria.
